Henna FAQ
WHAT is a Henna Crown?
Beautiful Henna design applied on a shaved head - just like a crown! The henna stain lasts for about 10 days to 2 weeks.

WHO can get a crown?
Cancer treatment patients who have lost their hair due to Chemo. Please consult with your doctor before making a decision to get a Henna crown.

WHY get a crown done?
Those who have gone through Chemo can vouch how tough the treatment is on the body and mind.
Henna crowns add a sliver of joy and beauty.
They are a great conversation piece - a wonderful and welcomed change from discussing medication and radiations.

HOW to prepare for the henna crown?
  1. Please make sure to consult your doctor before deciding upon getting a Henna crown. My henna paste will contain: organic Henna powder, organic sugar, distilled water and Lavender essential oil.
  2. Please let me know if you have any sensitivity issues with Lavender oil. Other options are Tea tree oil, Cajaput or Eucalyptus oil.
  3. Make sure your head is completely shaved and as close to the skin as possible.
  4. To add another fun element, contact a photographer friend and have a photo-shoot with your crown on!
  5. I apply henna crowns completely freehand. This gives us the option to include any symbols or elements that hold special meaning to you.

HOW long does it take to apply a crown?
It takes approx. 2 hours.
You'll be sitting in a chair for the whole time, except for bathroom breaks.
Make sure you have a book or some form of entertainment to keep you occupied.

HOW do I care for the crown?
  1. Once the henna crown is applied, I'll spray a layer of sugar water. This helps the design stick better to the scalp.
  2. Keep the henna paste on as long as possible. I recommend 8 hours.
  3. Then, scrape off the paste with your finger or
  4. Use coconut oil (or Olive oil) to loosen tough spots.
  5. The paste leaves behind a pumpkin orange stain on the skin. The stain darkens by process of oxidization over the next 48 hours.
  6. Do not wash or scrub at the stain for another 24 to 48 hours. This is an important step to achieve a dark and long lasting henna stain.

HOW much does it cost to get a crown?
  1. Your first Henna crown application is $50!
  2. Any subsequent crown application is at a discounted price of $120 each.
